Before the season started BYU had a party at the stadium to show off the new scoreboard and get everyone excited about the season. In addition to all kinds of activities, got a chance to tour the locker room and try on some pads and a helmet.

A photographer for the newspaper was in the locker room at the same time and our kids where so cute they ended up with their picture in the paper. This is the shot from the news paper:

The kids climbed in Riley Nelson's locker for good luck. It worked the first game but we didn't get to go back and the rest of the season was more rough. We should have gone back each week.

We had to bribe them but we got Blake and Derek to take off their shirts and pretend to shower in the team locker room.

Dinosaur Park

Back in August we made a trip to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden. It was pretty eventful. Blake had an encounter with a bat.

A bat was hanging out  on one of the Dinosaur sculptures and acting weird.  It flew down and landed on a another park visitor nearby. He shook it off and it flew back up and hung on the bottom of one of the Dinosaurs. Of course, Blake was fascinated and we couldn't get him to walk away. He hung out as close to the bat as he could, hoping it would land on him. After a while he got his wish. Amy was pretty freaked out. When I went to brush it off Blake he yelled "take a picture first". A maintenance guy finally caught the bat and took him away.

The biggest problem is that, when we talked to several people later, because the bat was acting so weird,  they suggested, that Blake be seen by a doctor and get a shot. After looking into it, the only place that could give us the shots was the emergency room and the shots would be very expensive. After spending time in the emergency room the doctor did some research and determined that if he didn't have any signs of problems and the bat didn't get near any dangerous areas on his body or Blake didn't show signs of being bit, that he didn't need the shot.

Pack meeting and water fight

Because of some great help and prompting from mom, Blake and Derek earned a lot of awards this summer. they got them all at the pack meeting.

Brandon isn't crying because he is wet. He is crying because they ran out of water balloons.

When he was playing he was really having fun. This is his reaction after shooting a balloon out of the water balloon launcher.

String Camp

This summer Blake went to "String Camp". Blake likes to try everything. When he tried out, they thought he was good enough to move him up a level. It was an intense week with long days. It was challenging but I think he learned a lot.

The orchestra had a kid who played the cello even though he was missing an arm. I thought it was pretty darn cool.
